Weekend Getaways: Montauk

IMG_5248There’s nothing I enjoy more in the summer than making the annual trip out to Montauk for the day. It’s about an hour and a half away from where I live, but when you add in all the crazy traffic it could be a lot longer. This time around we ended up taking the LIRR, which I definitely suggest anyone do if you hate sitting in traffic as much as I do! It’s a quick hour and a half ride out from the Patchogue station on the south shore and the Montauk train station is a short drive away from the town. Once we got out there, we started our day out at one of my new favorite places, The Surf Lodge!

Our train ended up getting in around 10:45 am so it was the perfect time of the day for my favorite meal of the day, brunch! They had the tastiest mango banana smoothie bowl (which I definitely recommend on a hot summer morning!) and some yummy avocado toast. IMG_5188IMG_5242

Another thing that I loved about the Surf Lodge was how it was decorated. Pineapple wallpaper and fun swinging chairs that I seriously cannot get enough of (I’m completely obsessed!)

Another great place to stop by is the Bluestone Lane Cafe, which serves some yummy coffee if you’re looking to grab one on your way to the beach. They also showcase these gorgeous printed surf boards by Nusa Indah. I was soooo tempted to buy one, ugh if only I knew how to surf!

Afterwords we grabbed a few brews at the Montauk Brewing Company (because how can you not when you’re in Montauk). I’m not a huge beer drinker, but their watermelon beer is by far the best I’ve had all summer! Their summer ale is also pretty good. So if you’re not much of a beer drinker like me, I’d recommend those two to start! (You can also chose to do a tasting which gives you the option to taste out all of their beers on tap.)

Once we were finished making a few stops we ended up making our way down to the best part of Montauk, the beach.
