This summer has been all about weekend getaways on the island for my friends and I. The one thing I love about living here is the fact that in less than an hour you can be in the middle of crazy Manhattan or relaxing by the shore on the east end. So this past weekend, my boyfriend and I ventured out to the north fork to a cute little town right at the end of the island called Greenport.
Our first stop was a winery (of course) that’s located right before the town. This specific winery not only had amazing wine, but also a beautiful view of the Long Island Sound. Kontokosta Winery is the great pit stop for a yummy glass of rosé along with a few perfect photo ops.
Next, we took a short ferry ride over to Shelter Island. Shelter Island is a small hidden gem located right over the Peconic River. We spent a few hours biking around, enjoying the gorgeous views, exploring new beaches and admiring the charming houses.
After our long bike ride around Shelter Island, it’s safe to say we deserved some yummy margaritas and delicious Mexican food. Our favorite restaurant in Greenport is Lucharitos. This place has a crazy fun look and vibe, which initially caught my eye and attention the first time I ever ate there. Their drinks and tacos are easily some of the best on the island!
Before we headed home, we made a stop into one of my favorite shops in the village called The Weathered Barn. When I first walked into this shop, their hand stamped vintage table top accessories immediately caught my eye. They’re all stamped in house, and their patterns range from the 1800’s-1960’s. The best part about this place is that they can custom make these, so if you need a gift for anyone or are looking for something more personal, they can do it for you. These pieces are the perfect gift for any occasion!
